Exploring Eastern State Penitentiary Part 2

It’s pretty hard to not take a million photos at Eastern State Penitentiary which is why we have for you Part 2 of our visit to this amazing place! If you haven’t already, you can check out Part 1 here. Now in addition to taking more photos of the eerie interior cell blocks, we also spent a significant amount of time shooting the outside of the property which in our opinion was just as interesting! Maneuvering amongst overpowering stone walls led us to places like the hole (6th photo) that housed four solitary confinement cells, a greenhouse (11th photo) that provided inmates with gardening skills, the yard (13th photo) for exercise which had a striking view of Philadelphia, and the guard watch towers that overlooked the whole property. Needless to say, it made us think of the saying, “if walls could talk”…because if these walls could, we are pretty sure they would have a lot to say!
