The Quarters (living room)

Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would have the opportunity to stay overnight in a historical military fort…but we did at the Presidio La Bahia in Goliad, Texas! The moment we walked into The Quarters which used to be where they housed the Presidio’s officers, it really did feel like we were in this protected environment with the stone walls all around us. In fact, when the last of the museum visitors left and the employees at the visitor center locked up for the night, it was like the space had become our own secure sanctuary. Nothing but peace and quiet…and ample time to sit back and read the guest book which is actually like a collection of diary entries. It is filled with stories of entertaining guest experiences including the ones that involve paranormal activities. Unfortunately, I had to stop reading once it started to get dark out…too scary for me! Check back next week, for more photos of this amazing locale which was such an eerie place to explore considering it is the site of one of the worst massacres in Texas history!
